Stepping Stones to Success LISA PRIESTLY (PRIESTLY) Happy to be here! WRIGHT So, what can you tell me about your approach to fitness? PRIESTLY First and most important, Fitness, Fuel, and Focus are the three circles of health, an integrated approach that addresses the individual?s whole life fitness. Many people think about fitness in terms of ?sets and reps,? but I want more than that for my clients. I like the perspective of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that looks at the importance of being able to carry out daily tasks with vigor and alertness without fatigue and with plenty of energy left over to enjoy leisure time pursuits. I also see fitness as the ability to respond to stress?both physical and emotional?with sufficient resilience, energy, and personal resources. So you can see it?s not just about how strong we are or how fast we can run. The point is to have more vitality, more juice, more energy, and more effectiveness. This can change a person?s entire experience of their everyday life. So when I look at my clients, I?m not just considering the short time we spend together in the gym. For me, fitness is much more than that. WRIGHT So how does your system help people become successful? PRIESTLY Fitness, Fuel, and Focus helps people get great results fast because I?ve cherry-picked the best practices from diverse disciplines and techniques I?ve studied over the years. The program incorporates practices to address body, mind, and spirit. It looks at the inner person: spirit, attitude, fitness goals, and current nutritional intake. It also considers the outer person: current physical condition, dietary preferences, and lifestyle. Taking the whole person into consideration enables me to build a program that addresses each client?s particular needs in the larger context of the person?s whole self. I like to think of this as a full circle of fitness. This brings success! You know, I?ve been an athlete since age twelve and I?ve engaged in competitive and non-competitive sports like the bike race, Race Across America I just recently completed. So I bring a lot of enthusiasm and fun into my work. In addition, the program is infused with Eastern studies. I am a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher; I studied Wu-Su Kung-Fu, practice Qi Gong, and hold several national Personal Trainer certifications, as well as a Spinning certification. Integrating Eastern practices with Western exercise science feels natural and fun for me, and clients enjoy the variety that unfolds in our training sessions, depending on what?s needed that day. The training program offers both ?inner? and ?outer? mind/body benefits, such as: restoring chi, building endurance, physical strength and toned muscles. In addition to improving one?s strength and flexibility, I improve overall functioning of the muscular skeletal systems. When your body feels better, you feel better. Improving health isn?t just about building muscles or getting thin?it?s also about feeling good about yourself, looking, and functioning your best.
